RECENT EXHIBIT Regarding her November 2005 exhibit at Fig Tree Gallery, critic Donald Munro of The Fresno Bee writes: "At Fig Tree, a veteran local artist, Juliana Harris, gets a chance to luxuriate in the gallery with her first show in the new space. Harris has often shown a mix of wood sculptures and paintings at Fig Tree in the past, but this show concentrates exclusively on her swirling, vividly colored, heavily glazed paintings that hint at recognizable forms and figures. Harris long has been intrigued by the relationship between form and formlessness, and these works, a hybrid of impressionism and abstract expressionism, have a keen sense of motion and energy." |
